Greetings from GOOD SHEPHERD!
We have entered the sacred THREE DAYS and are on our way with Christ to the
cross of Calvary and beyond to the empty tomb. This is a crucial time to
take stock of our lives, to recognize our sinfulness and our need of
redemption. With the disciples of old, we want nothing more than to run away and

Greetings from GOOD SHEPHERD!
The season of Lent is a journey of faith with Christ our Lord as He makes
His way to the cross on Calvary’s hilltop, where He would die so that we
might live. Following on this journey causes us to take stock of our lives, to
recognize our sinfulness and our need of redemption. With the disciples of
old, we want nothing more than to run away and hide and not have to face the
consequences of our sin. But Christ gives Himself freely on our behalf.
In Him the victory is won and we can go on through the Great Three Days to
the joy of Easter and beyond. May this Lenten season draw us back to God
through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord!
Sunday, March 20- The Second Sunday in Lent: During Lent we journey with

Greetings from GOOD SHEPHERD!
We rejoice in the wonder of Christ, the Light of the world, come to
make known God’s will for us and to bring us salvation. The season of Epiphany
is a time for mission. As the old Bible School song says: "Hide your light
under a bushel, NO! Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine! May we see
the Light of Christ’s presence among us anew each day, and do our best to be
His Light shining in the darkness all around us. Live in the Light anew
this Epiphany season, dear friends in Christ!
Sunday, March 6- The Transfiguration of Our Lord: This festival is a
bridge between the Advent-Christmas-Epiphany cycle that comes to a close this day
and the Lent-Easter cycle that beings in several days. On the mount of
transfiguration Jesus is revealed as God’s beloved Son, echoing the words at
his baptism. This vision of glory sustains us as Jesus faces his impending
death in Jerusalem. We turn this week to Ash Wednesday and our yearly
baptismal journey from Lent to Easter. We put aside the alleluia at the conclusion
of this day’s liturgy. This word of joy will be omitted during the
penitential season of Lent and will be sung again at Easter. The readings for this
Sunday are: 1L- Exodus 24: 12-18; Psalm 2; 2L- 2 Peter 1: 16-21; G- Matthew
17: 1-9. As we begin the month of March we gather at the Lord’s Table at
8:15AM and 10:30AM.
