Greetings from GOOD SHEPHERD!
Christ is our SALVATION! In the season of Lent we follow Jesus on a journey
that leads to the cross of Calvary. Jesus is on a rescue mission, sent by God
to bail us out from the forces of evil, sin and death... all that separate us
from relationship with Him. The price was steep that Jesus paid to
accomplish our salvation. Thanks be to God that He would stop at nothing... not even
death... to make our lives new and to restore us to oneness in Him forevermore.
Join us throughout this sacred season as we worship God in the name of Him
who comes to restore us to the joy of our salvation, Jesus Christ our Lord!
Saturday, February 28- Contemporary Service: This day’s reading is the
conclusion to the flood story. Because of human sin, the Lord destroys the earth
by flood, saving only Noah, his family, and the animals on the ark. Yet divine
destruction gives way to divine commitment. As in the first creation, God
blesses humanity and establishes a covenant with all creatures. The Spirit that
comes upon Jesus at his baptism sustains him when he is tested by Satan so
that he might proclaim the good news of God’s reign. The readings for this
evening are: 1L- Genesis 9: 8-17; G- Mark 1: 9-15. Join us for our monthly
CONTEMPORARY SERVICE this evening beginning at 6:30PM.

Greetings from GOOD SHEPHERD!
Rejoice, the Light has come! In this season of Epiphany God reveals Himself
to us anew in the ministry of Jesus our Lord. "No one has ever seen God It
is God the only Son, who is close to the Father‘s heart, who has made him
known." (John 1: 18) Join us throughout this sacred season as we worship God in the name of Him who comes to make known His gracious love for us all, Jesus
Christ our Lord!
Sunday, February 22- The Transfiguration of Our Lord: The Sundays after
Epiphany began with Jesus’ baptism and end with three disciples’ vision of his
transfiguration. In Mark’s story of Jesus’ baptism, apparently only Jesus sees
the Spirit descending and hears the words from heaven. But now Jesus’ three
closest friends hear the same words naming him God’s beloved son. As
believers, Paul writes, we are enabled to see the God-light in Jesus’ face, because the same God who created light in the first place has shone in our hearts to give us that vision. The light of God’s glory in Jesus has enlightened us
through baptism and shines in us also for others to see. The readings for this
Sunday are: 1L- 2 Kings 2: 1-12; Psalm 50; 2L- 2 Corinthians 4: 3-6; G- Mark 9:
2-9.

Sunday, February 15- The Sixth Sunday after Epiphany: The leper is confident in Jesus’ power to heal. Naaman, on the other hand, is comically hard to convince that he can be healed by such an unlikely foreigner as Elisha, who directs him to wash in such a sorry excuse for a river as the Jordan. Jesus’ healing power is here among us in the ordinary water of the font, in the ordinary bread, in the ordinary people who make up the body of Christ. we would be well-advised to take the advice of the least powerful among us (like the servant girl in Naaman’s household) if we want to find the one who will heal us. The readings for this Sunday are: 1L- 2 Kings 5: 1-14; Psalm 30; 2L- 1 Corinthians 9: 24-27; G- Mark 1: 40-45. -----------------------------------------
